Southeast Minnesota Ag Alliance

Overview of Organization

Our organization promotes production agriculture as a vital and necessary enterprise to the financial and ecological welfare in Southeast Minnesota. Our goal is to help farmers become pro-active in preserving and/or expanding their current operations. We do this by empowering and training our members to speak out for Agriculture. Many of our members attend their local zoning and planning boards and talk with county commissioners to make sure that the people making the laws have an accurate view of today's environmentally friendly farming practices. Our organization was started to provide clear and accurate information to the public about the benefits that farming provides to communities.

Geographical Area Served

We are currently comprised of the 10 Southeast counties of Minnesota. They include Dodge, Fillmore, Freeborn, Goodhue, Houston, Mower, Olmsted, Steele, Wabasha, and Winona. We also have a population of over 403,437 people living in the 10 county region. We are losing farmers at an alarming rate. By focusing on this region we help maintain the current farm numbers by helping farmers to be pro active. We also have the opportunity to reach a large non-farm segment through our news releases and education opportunities.
